This is a mini-conference featuring four speakers each of whom will offer a 30-minute presentation with a question-and-answer session. Please note that the program is extended until 2:30 pm, slightly longer than our usual monthly meetings. The presenters are:

Deborah Mackin, Author, Founder/President and Principal Performance Strategy Consultant at New Directions, Inc., who will present "How to Develop Qualified Sales Leads from Your Blog."

She will discuss strategies for moving your blog beyond a personal reflection to positioning yourself as an industry thought leader in order to generate leads from value-added content.

Sandor (Sandy) Schuman, Management Consultant,Group Facilitator and Educator, who will present "Stories at Work: How to Create, Tell and Use Stories with Groups and Organizations."

He will help participants understand the benefits of using stories in their professional lives, the key components of a story and the use of prompts to elicit an effective story.

Mark Grimm, Owner of Mark Grimm Communications, who will present "The Consultant's Guide to Media Secrets: Inside Tips from theTV Anchor."

He will present a revealing understanding of what makes a reporter/editor tick, what you should do if you’re treated unfairly in a media story and a strategy to get on the “go-to” list for reporters.

Robert Braathe, Owner of Braathe Enterprises, who will present "Adding Value to Your Consulting with Virtual Interns."

He will discuss how to make virtual internships a valuable experience for both you and students through the Resume from the Future; how to keep virtual internships legal, effective and efficient, according to New York State laws and academic rules; how to launch your own virtual internship program and find the right talent.

Deborah Mackin

Deborah Mackin, author of three best-selling workplace team books including, The Team-Building Tool Kit 2 (AMACOM 2007), has been called “an international authority” on teaming.  Deborah is also the president of New Directions Consulting, a firm she founded in 1984, as a way to bring practical skills to the workforce and raise the level of leadership in organizations.  Deborah travels globally working with organizations as diverse as Delta Faucet, Coca-Cola, Bechtel Marine Propulsion Corporation, Sanofi Pasteur, Alcoa, CapCom Credit Union and Catholic Charities.  Deborah’s blog, NDCBlogger, was recently distinguished as an Influential Voice by the American Society for Quality for its focus on teams and quality.

Sandor (Sandy) Schuman

“My Father was a storyteller,” says Sandor Schuman.  “It was his everyday way of communicating important values and ideas.  I followed his example, but didn't realize it until several years ago.  After leading a three-day training program, I read the attendees’ evaluation forms.  In response to the question, ‘What did you like best about the program?’ several people responded, ‘Sandy’s stories.’ I had to ask my co-trainer what they were talking about.  That's how I found out I was a storyteller.” For years, Sandy has used storytelling in his work as a management consultant, group facilitator, and educator.  Recently he has been sharing his stories of life, culture, and history with youth and adult audiences.  Find out more at

Mark Grimm

Former TV anchor Mark Grimm is a speaking coach and media/message strategist. He has conducted one-on-one interviews with Presidents Bush and Clinton. Mark was named ASTD Trainer of the Year in a 20-county region and hosts the Siena Alumni Connection radio show. More available at

Robert Braathe

Robert Braathe of Braathe Enterprises based in Saratoga Springs, works with companies seeking to build, buy or sell their businesses and ideas.  He teaches Entrepreneurship at Skidmore College and SCCC, as well as through his online education platform,  He founded the Virtual Internship Program in 2011 and over 60 students have successfully participated in this unique 5 month experience which helps them build their "Resume from The Future."
