 "Turning Life Into a Business"

Speaker: Julie DeFruscio, Entrepreneur and Co-Owner of Pump Wear, Inc.

Julie DeFruscio will share her personal story of creating a successful business out of a family health crisis, building the business through social media and sustaining the business by giving back to the community.
When her three-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, DeFruscio was devastated yet determined to help her child cope with the situation. Using the insulin pump helped her child regain some normalcy, but finding places to hold the pump proved difficult. That challenge led DeFruscio and her best friend to develop fashionable, fun ways for diabetic children and adults to wear the pump so that the pumping experience is positive and successful. From that situation, Pump Wear (www.pumpwearinc.com) was born. For the last ten years, DeFruscio has built a successful company using social media and now offers her products in Germany and the United Kingdom.
